A 1988 Princeton graduate and 1992 University of Florida MBA, Joe became the initial salesperson for Gold Standard Multimedia (GSM), since renamed Gold Standard and subsequently sold to Reed Elsevier (2006). From 4 employees, GSM under Joe ’s sales leadership grew to 22 employees and $1.5 Million in annualized revenue. These efforts included launching 3 products – Radiologic Anatomy, Human Anatomy, Microscopic Anatomy – sold during this time into all but one of the US and Canadian medical schools, and a 4th - Clinical Pharmacology, an electronic drug reference – sold into more than 300 US hospitals.
In 1995 Joe joined Micromedex, Inc., serving as its Director, Corporate Alliances, responsible for and developing its relationships with all of the major hospital buying groups, such as VHA and Premier, along with the major drug-distribution firms, such as McKesson and AmeriSource. He was then appointed 1 of 8 Regional Sales Managers, growing the Northeast territory from $2.9 Million to $5.6 Million in under 4 years. During this time, Joe was tasked by a Micromedex co-Founder and VP, Sales with developing a modified pricing approach for the many Micromedex medical database products. The resulting bundled pricing helped transform the corporate sales culture from product-oriented to solution-oriented selling. Joe also served as the sales member on the product launch team for CareNotes, which has become the leading patient education database product in the US hospital market.
In 2000 Joe launched Hospital Reps, and has since served as the lead salesperson and product launch sales strategist for InfoRetriever, from InfoPOEMs, and ICU Tracker, from Medical Decisions Network, a Medical Automation Systems affiliate. InfoPOEMs, which saw its revenue grow under Joe’s sales leadership from $127k to $1.1 Million in 3 years, was sold in 2005 to John Wiley & Sons. ICU Tracker, a Critical Care Outcomes Reporting tool which collects data from various existing hospital systems, was prototyped in the summer of 2005 and formally launched July 2006.
